Commercial Styling
A series of student projects for professional and marketable editorials using only Iphone cameras and good lighting.
01
Small Accessory ad
This ad consists of two separate photoshoots for a small accessory, one with a model and the other with a light box. My goal was to join the two pictures into one full page ad fit for a fashion and lifestyle magazine. I used a softbox light in the upper left corner to accent her face for the main light with accent light directed towards the backdrop.
02
Fragrance ad
When choosing a Gucci fragrance as my muse, I knew I had to fully encapsulate the Gucci style. It was a bit odd to have feathers sticking out of my backpack but it was definitely necessary. The mirror was chosen for a fresh appearance, almost as if the light fragrance was floating. Main lights pointed towards the backdrop to have the light shining through the bottle with an accent light on the front label and cap.
03
Musician Editorial
Our guest was a music professor with his custom guitars and a striped multi-colored suit. While the common direction of my colleagues was 'rockstar in action', I approached the assignment as an article cover about his life behind the curtain. Main light is directed towards the backdrop with an accent soft light on him. Lighting props used for instudio effect with a raw cut of himself off guard and his accompanying guitars.
04
Candy Ad
Lighting proved to be quite a challenge for this particular advertisement. My goal was to romanticize the marketing of this chocolate company by emphasizing the love letter premise. I added the accessories and backdrop to depict a parcel from far away filled with items significant to the love story.
05
Socialmedia NASA Promo
First day in the studio and our professor has a space suit and an idea. The goal was a social media promotion for NASA internship programs to college juniors and seniors. My partner (model) and I decided to go for a more feminine approach to specifically target women in STEM with a playful approach. There are only so many options when my props are my school supplies.
06
Fashion ad
My photoshoots for Modmuze magazine were being held just in time for me to take advantage of my already styled pictorial. My goal for this ad was a candid shot of someone casually wearing this extravagant coat in a natural setting. This project was taken on my Iphone by myself and is not property of Modmuze magazine.
07
Luxury Video ad
As the concluding project, I was tasked to create a short video ad consisting of multiple quick shots in an array of sizes, from close-up to wide. Lecture was full of examples of luxury accessory advertisements, from Tiffany to Louis Vuitton. My model showed up wearing her mother's Burberry jacket on a drizzly day, so there was no question of the ad's focus.
